Ok so you want to host your own server on left4dead2 non-steam
I'm going to show you how to host a listen server ( a server that is started from the console , a server that you must be in game) as a posed to a dedicated server (a server that is started from SCRDS.exe and does not require you to be in game )

Step 1
Make sure your game is fully up dated to the latest version (Current version is 2.0.8.3  on the 18/08/11) and that you have installed the latest standalone patch (links are at the bottom of the page )

Step 2
Make sure you have the game selected in Garena properley

Make sure you select left4dead2.exe in Executable settings and -steam in Game Bootstrap Parameters , then press update , once you have done all this you can start the game using the Start Game button

Step 3
You need to open the console in game to host ,the console looks like this

 you open the console by pressing ` or F10 ` is the key to the left of 1 and above the TAB key
if this fails you need to go into settings then click on keyboard mouse settings and enable developer console,

Dont have the console? put this in CHAT in game by pressin y : ";con_enable 1; bind F8 toggleconsole;
Now u can open console everytime u press F8 ..

Once you have the console open you need to type map followed by a space (remember not to use capitol letters) a list of maps will appear you can scroll through these using the  down arrow key

once you have the map you require then you can add the game mode you want to do this
you need to press space after the chosen map then type the game-mode you require e.g. campaign, versus , survival .......after that you can add mutations (you dont have to it is optional)

  finally you can add the name of your server you do this by pressing space and typing
hostname and then typing what you want your server to be called e.g. hostname MyServER this will show as MyServER in the steam group servers list
so an example of what it should look like is this
map c1m1_hotel versus mutation13 hostname MyServER
that's it happy hosting ;)
